ABOUT THE ANIMA DUO

Formed in 2010, the AniMa DUO is made up of Aniana Jaime Latre and Mariano García, both professors at the Music Conservatoire of Aragón in Zaragoza and renowned performers who have performed to critical acclaim in Europe, the United States and China.In 2014 AniMa DUO recorded their first album Sculptures under the IBS Classical label. It is an eclectic disc featuring pieces originally written for other instruments, including works by Bach, Schumann, Hindemith, and Debussy.  Also included is the world premiere recording of Jean Françaix´ Theme and Variations (with the collaboration of the author’s son Jacques) and Seven Popular Spanish Songs by Manuel Falla, coinciding with the centenary of the piece.

In 2016 AniMa DUO released their second album Ritmo en el espacio which includes first recordings of recent works by Spanish composers: Óscar Escudero, Benet Casablancas, José Mª Sánchez Verdú, Agustín Charles, Jesús Rueda and Pablo Labián.

The DUO has performed at the Festival  Ribagorza Clásicos en la Frontera and the 2015 Vienna Sax Fest, in addition to venues including the Andorra Congress Palace, Eduardo del Pueyo Auditorium of Zaragoza, the International Festival of Panticosa,  the Manuel de Falla Auditorium of Granada, and the Mozart Hall Auditorium at Zaragoza, among others.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

ANIANA JAIME LATRE has received comprehensive training in Sariñena, Madrid and Holland from pianists Rosa Mª Kucharski, Carmen Rubio, Anselmo de la Campa and Aquiles Delle-Vigne. She also attends many national and international courses where among other receives advice from Edith Picht-Axenfeld, Carmen Bravo-Mompou, Josep Mª Colom and Claudio Martinez-Mehner. Since she was very young, she has performed recitals as a soloist and as a member of various chamber music formations in concert halls all over Europe.
Three times she has managed Scholarship piano studies D. Pedro Masaveu and Masaveu, the Spanish Music Prize of the Guerrero Foundation in 2010, and is laureated of the contest of chamber music Mirabent i Magrans of Sitges.
She also collaborates with the Chamber Orchestra of the Auditorium of Zaragoza «Enigma Group».
With a passion for the saxophone, MARIANO GARCÍA seeks to surpass the boundaries of this instrument in all of his performances, broadening his repertoire with both chamber music transcriptions and contemporary pieces.
Combining his teaching career with that of concert saxophonist, he has toured China and the USA and has taken part in major festivals in Andorra, Portugal and Italy. He has been a Selmer Paris artist since 2010, and is frequently asked to sit on juries at international competitions.

In so far as his work as a teacher is concerned, he gives numerous courses and master classes in Spain, particularly at the ESMUC of Barcelona, Advanced Conservatory of Salamanca and the University of Francisco de Vitoria in Madrid.
He has been invited to teach at various American universities including those of North Carolina, South Carolina, the Furman University and the University of Georgia…

Since 2009 he has been saxophone Chair at the Advanced Conservatory of Music of Aragon and is currently one of the most demanded teachers of this instrument.
